Pionix is a fast-growing scaleup in the field of electromobility. Leveraging an open-source application, the company is developing an innovative operating system for charging stations, thus advancing the mobility revolution. As an industry pioneer, Pionix aims to provide the foundational technology for electric vehicle charging infrastructure on a global scale.

The Goal

As a scaleup, Pionix faced the challenge of crafting a clear and coherent brand identity and positioning that would resonate with customers, partners, and investors. Additionally, it was essential to engage the global open-source community, which plays a crucial role in the ongoing development and adoption of the technology. 

The Pionix team was working on product development, sales, and company establishment simultaneously. However, due to limited resources, managing all related marketing and communication projects internally proved challenging. To navigate these complexities, Pionix turned to Contegy as a strategic partner. The collaboration aimed to define Pionix’s brand identity, strengthen its market positioning, and manage communication channels efficiently and consistently. The objective was to enhance the company’s efforts in go-to-market strategy, sales initiatives, and fundraising activities.

The Project: Strategic Support for an Agile Scaleup in a Dynamic Market 

Since July 2024, Contegy has been working closely with Pionix to build its brand and position the company as a thought leader in the charging infrastructure sector. Despite the technically complex nature of the topics involved, the Contegy team has successfully implemented strategic storytelling as a new standard in marketing. This approach has brought clarity and consistency to Pionix’s communication efforts, effectively conveying its value proposition to customers, partners, and the broader open-source community.

Strategy and Positioning Workshop
Solid Foundation for a Strategic Alignment of Marketing

During a joint workshop with all relevant stakeholders (including the CEO, COO, Sales Director, and Marketing Manager), the foundation for the content strategy was established. A shared understanding of content marketing was developed, the positioning of Pionix was refined, and initial ideas were generated on how to engage the target audience in a results-oriented manner. Based on this, Contegy developed a communication concept that takes into account the different target groups and personas and establishes core messages.

Brand Strategy:
Development of a Sustainable Brand Identity

The foundation for Pionix's future brand strategy was built through a comprehensive assessment workshop on current brand perception. Together, we developed a framework that clearly defines the brand and serves as a guideline for all future decisions. This involved working out Pionix's brand core – the foundation that defines the brand's identity. This brand core encompasses the values and central characteristics that define Pionix, shaping both the perception of the company by its target groups as well as its strategic actions. The workshop also helped the team to clearly identify Pionix's unique selling points and communicate them to the public.

Based on the resulting brand strategy, we aim to collaboratively move into the implementation phase. The planned brand relaunch includes the development of a revised corporate design with new templates, as well as a 360-degree campaign to introduce the new brand identity to employees, customers, partners, and the market.

Content Marketing at Its Finest:
Video Production at a Trade Fair

At the Intercharge Network Conference industry trade fair in Berlin, Contegy deployed a dedicated camera team to produce a series of videos showcasing Pionix's technological innovations and mission.  

Our team handled the entire video production – from storyboard and creative direction to on-site execution and post-production. We conducted interviews with customers, partners, investors and other industry experts to authentically convey the company's vision. The videos are key elements of the communication and serve to position Pionix convincingly to major stakeholders. They will now be played out successively on the various channels (website, social media, blog, etc.). 

Fundraising Support:
Storytelling as the Foundation of a Compelling Pitch Deck

Contegy developed a comprehensive pitch deck for Pionix to kick off a new financing round. The objective was to effectively communicate the company's vision and growth potential while supporting it with relevant data and figures. The presentation was visually enhanced and meticulously structured, providing investors with a concise overview of Pionix's business model, unique selling points, and market strategy. Special emphasis was placed on maintaining consistent messaging to ensure the core messages were conveyed clearly and effectively.
